Two Years Flies By- And Why Happiness Experts Are Real

Two Years Has Flown By

It was two years ago on this date (Nov 10th as I write this) that I last appeared on CTV Morning Live as the host. A position I had held just shy of ten years. I can’t believe two years has past since. There are days when it feels just like yesterday.

Am I where I expected to be? Not even close.
Have I struggled to find my identity from a job and a title I had for 20 years? Absolutely.
Do I regret leaving? No

Here is a part of my Instagram post I posted yesterday:

I was reminded recently that “my job on television is was what I did, not who I am”. It has taken me quite some time to come to terms with that concept as I have been adjusting to this new life, away from the spotlight, the newsroom and the 3:40 am alarm clock.

Who I am is a person passionate about sharing stories about health and wellness in hopes of inspiring others to make the changes necessary to live their lives to their fullest potential. With that is also the task of taking on the role as entrepreneur ( much harder than I had anticipated).

Almost at 100!

My “Living Your Life w Lianne Laing” podcast is soon approaching its 100th episode. (three away) The audience grows every day and I love the people, stories and information I am providing. My 100th episode will be a solo podcast as I share what these last two years have really been like- what I have learned, and how it might help inspire others to take a leap of faith. Also, there are the unforeseen challenges, pitfalls and advice I wish I had gotten or should have listened too! I want to be able to speak on a much larger platform and I realize over time I stopped talking.

I love this picture, taken just a few weeks ago as I was getting set to board the Ama Viola Ship for the “Lianne & Friends Awaken A Better You Wellness Cruise”. Change is scary and fear is paralyzing. However, this picture represents a part of the journey that took me out of my comfort zone and into a life of adventure. I was living my true – authentic self in this photo. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns either- everyday is a learning curve but I’ve come to love the process.

Living Your Life w Lianne Laing Podcast:

Remember the slogan and the song….”Don’t worry – Be Happy”?
How wonderful life would be if it were just that easy.
That’s exactly the topic of this week’s podcast and I found the discussion quite fascinating.

We all seem to know someone, who always seems to be smiling, happy, content, grateful. We think they must be faking it, putting on an act to mask their real emotions and pain. I mean, let’s be honest, who is really that happy? Is it actually possible?

Are we so numb to people talking about feeling anxious, stressed and depressed that we just expect that to be the norm? Has the status quo become about surviving rather than thriving?

A Woman’s Guide to Happiness

The truth is, there are people out there who are genuinely happy, who see the positive in life, even during difficult times. There are people who have constant compassion and appreciation for life. Who find it easier to smile than to frown and who have the ability to spread their joy and light to others.

Let me introduce you to Happiness Expert Kathy Donavon.

Now its not that Kathy, a former tv personality, sees rainbows and unicorns all the time. In fact at one point in her life, Kathy called herself an unhappiness expert, very familiar with shame, doubt, fear and all the things that hold us back from feeling good. She changed her reality and she has some wonderful stories on how you can do the same. Inspiration in Action – A Woman’s Guide To Happiness is one of her books, along with Harnessing The Radical Power Of Courage…

What I’ve been wearing

It’s been great to partner with Boutique Colori for a number of my events over the last few months. While I loved wearing their clothes on the show, its been great to continue sporting their collections throughout the years. I loved this white number I wore to host the Ottawa Police Gala in support of the Snowsuit Fund this past weekend. A reminder as the holiday parties are coming up that you can use my discount code LIANNE15 when checking for a 15% discount at http://www.colori.ca

I hope you have a fantastic week.
As always, I am open to hearing what topics, guests and information you would like to be profiled here and on the podcast. I would love to hear from you.

See you next week,
Much Love,
Lianne xo
