Lessons learned on the course… and could you be the winner?

It was a low key weekend for us with family time spent playing “Pickleball”, (the fastest growing sport in North American) and the board game CLUE. The games may become a bit more competitive than we anticipated 🙂
We also spent quite a bit of time on the soccer sidelines.
Not every summer weekend can be the blockbuster kind, on the water, at a cottage or traveling. I appreciated the rainfall which allowed me the time to de-clutter the basement landing guilt free. Are you the same as me- waiting for bad weather to check things off the “to-do list”? I take it your list hasn’t had much of a dent this summer 🙂
Turning the focus now to this week’s “Living Your Life w Lianne Laing’ podcast. Life lessons learned on the golf course with Kevin Haime.

My dad Jeff loved to play golf, he loved everything about the game, and as a child I tried to get my head around it but couldn’t quite get there. Eventually when I was working I learned to play- I didn’t want to be the token girl out on the course at fundraisers and so I picked it up. My husband Tony is an avid golfer, not quite the scratch golfer he used to be since we had kids but I knew if I didn’t take up the game I would eventually be a golf widow in retirement. I love a nine and dine and I’m good to pack it in by 12 holes.

What I respect most about the game- are its nuisances- and that this game above all others reveals a persons true character – their integrity, honesty and  sportsmanship. You cheat at golf- you cheat at life.

Don’t panic, this podcast is not all about golf. Kevin, who grew up around the game has built an incredible business with his wife Lisa. A player himself, Kevin describes the lessons learned growing up on a golf course and how the sport eventually led him to his own business. He talks about the partnership with Lisa, the constant need for growth and expansion and the “Disney” experience. He has great stories seen on and off the course and we spend quite a bit of time talking about the junior programs he has created. Philanthropy took on a different meaning when Kevin created the “Kids To The Course” program. We talk about the influence sport has on a child and why this program has provided a new life for some of the kids who have participated in it. Business, mentorship, family, health and wellness all covered in our chat.

The big draw for The Health First Network’s massive nationwide sweepstakes for the “Lianne & Friends Awaken A Better You Wellness Cruise” will take place this Thursday August 15th at 11am. I can’t wait to witness it all unfold live and be able to announce the winner. I will post the details and I can’t wait to call the winner 🙂
Participants needed to enter a ballot at any of the Health First Network stores across Canada. Participating stores here in Ottawa were Market Organics and Rainbow Foods.

I hope everyone has a great week and big hugs to the families who are in final countdown of summer. I managed some back to school shopping and tried not to cry as I did it. Time is flying by…

Much Love,
Lianne xo
