The Countdown Begins, The Podcasts Pile Up & The Daily Grind Is Real! Happy Monday!

I’m thinking I’m not alone:

My hips and lower back are killing me – I decided to toss the chair and stand for my “computer” time this week at the kitchen island. For twenty years, my job required me to be moving, always on the run, back and forth from the set to my desk. I never quite understood what people meant when they said they were tired from sitting all day, but OMG – the pain is real. So, I’m quickly trying to change the habit. It’s not a permanent solution, since being in the kitchen just made me want to snack all day, but I was aware of the situation and not allowing it to worsen. How often do you listen to your body and make a change? Reminder: We are only given one body, it’s the only vessel we have, listen to it.

I am grateful to my friend Séan McCann for the time we spent together taping my podcast, his honesty and willingness to share. The podcast has resonated with a lot of people and it was interesting to watch the feedback on his own social media platforms. For those of you not yet subscribed to the podcast you can always find the links to Living Your Life with Lianne Laing below. If you have battled addiction, or know someone who is dealing with darker days, this would be a great suggested listen.

We switch gears this week and sit down with CEO and Founder of Epic Fitness and Lifestyle Stephanie Karlovits. What I love about this podcast is that we hit on so many storylines that connect with people. Climbing our own mountains, business start ups, exercise, movement, functional movement, goal setting, burnouts, the list goes on. Stephanie and I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro back in 2014 which I think for both of us was an important life challenge and experience. She was also a regular contributor to my “Today’s The Day” segment on CTV Morning Live. It was wonderful to reconnect. What added to the day was the ability to use Extension Marketing’s studio and film a few segments to complement the podcast. We go through some of her favorite exercises, get a few tips on new gadgets and get the real scoop on what “functional movement” really is. I loved all the bonus material and will have the videos for you in next week’s newsletter to compliment the links to the podcast 😊

It was a busy weekend for me as I spent time at the National Women’s Show at the EY Center with Expedia CruiseShipCenters Ottawa for my “Awaken A Better You Wellness Cruise”. We set sail a year from now – on Oct 20th and I just loved the response we got at the show. Thank you to everyone who came up to me and said hi and who mentioned they were following the newsletter and the podcast. It really meant a lot to me. I am also eager to hear back from many of you who were intrigued by what the cruise offered and the concept we have planned. Taking on project of this magnitude comes with its challenges and a steep learning curve. This is a massive undertaking with so many moving parts. I know with my amazing experts, this will be a trip of a lifetime. For more information please check out the website!
