A billion dollar company & everything that goes with it!

About Last Weekend…

Our family thanksgiving was spent at Mont Tremblant where the colours were breathtaking and the weather spectacular. I have never seen crowds like I did this weekend. Cars were backed up on the highway for hours just to be able to pull into the mountain. Needless to say, what was once a serene escape is now recognized worldwide. However, it was a wonderful chance for the cousins to reconnect. As well, a great chance to hike the mountain with friends and enjoy a few glasses of wine with a game of “Cheat” with the family. I have started to practice gratitude on a more regular basis but its always nice to sit around a table and express the things we appreciate with those we love.

Living Your Life w Lianne Laing Podcast:

Move over BNN and MSNBC. I managed to get former Canopy Growth Founder and CEO Bruce Linton to sit for an hour. Even he thought it couldn’t be done and the time flew!

First of all, where do you start when you know the man sitting across from you helped build a company valued in its infancy years at almost 20 Billion Dollars (Canadian).  We had plenty to talk about!

It’s always had a bit of a Hollywood script to it; An abandoned chocolate factory turned into a thriving production line of a controversial product, which might make one crave chocolate after consumption. The movie could be a bio-pic of about Bruce Linton’s life, or at least the stage in his life when he built Canopy Growth. Certainly one of the biggest publicly traded cannabis companies in the world.

Also, if you rewind less than a decade and this wasn’t an easy conversation to have at a board room table. This journey has several twisted forks in the road that led to this opportunity, scarier than most of us would be willing to venture on. However Bruce, a graduate of Carleton university hopped on board, almost like a magic carpet, and wow did he fly! He traveled and we marvelled at what he was able to accomplish, until the magic died…

Bruce Linton,

I’m not sure why I make the comparison of Bruce’s entrepreneurship reign to an elite athlete but I do. Certainly at the top of one’s game, only to be traded and sent down to the minors. Bruce was fired not long ago from his post as CEO. However, like any true champion, you find your way back to the top and it seems like Bruce has been quick to rebound.

Furthermore, we talk about business, mentorship, leadership, transformation, family, weed, drugs, government and the list goes on. I really enjoyed the time we spent talking and know we will continue to see his name in the headlines with his latest projects and ventures.

Awaken a Better You!

In contrast, next week’s “Monday Update” will be coming to you from somewhere along the Danube River. I leave on Thursday evening for Budapest with Mireille and Alain from Expedia CruiseShipCenters Ottawa, and a number of the experts.  We have been working hand in hand for the last year and a half on this epic project and are anxious to see it all come together. I honestly can’t believe the trip has finally arrived. Thank you to everyone who has been following along and helped see this passion project become a reality!

For those making the trip-  see you in  few days on board the Ama Waterways ship. Woo Hoo!
I’m off to pack!

If anyone has any book suggestions- I need one for the trip- thanks in advance…

Much Love,
Lianne xo
